Michael A. Carr practices in the areas of Elder Law, Estate Planning, Trusts, Special Needs trusts, Probate and Estate Administration, and Wills. In addition, he practices in the areas of Corporate Finance, Contracts, Real Estate, and General Corporate Matters.
Mr. Carr received his Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law, Ada, Ohio in 1981 and his Masters of Tax LL.M. from Temple University School of Law in Philadelphia, PA in 1985. He received his BS degree in History and Accounting from Bridgewater College, Bridgewater, VA in 1978. Mr. Carr also has served as an Attorney for the United States Navy for 18 years.
Prior to joining Jones, Gregg, Creehan & Gerace, LLP, Mr. Carr was Of Counsel with several Pittsburgh firms and worked in his own practice handling corporate lease and real estate transactions, franchising, estate planning, and guardianships, specializing in the area of “Children with Special Needs”. Mr. Carr is a frequent speaker to consumer and professional groups and has been featured on monthly radio broadcasts discussing estate planning for newly divorced couples. His expertise in federal and state regulatory systems proves invaluable in helping clients address Medicaid, probate, and tax issues that arise when handling guardianships and real estate transactions.
Mr. Carr is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
