Mr. Spontak represents our business and non-profit clients in litigation, business formation, and land use matters.  Additionally, he provides services to clients in estate, guardianship, and fiduciary litigation matters.  Mr. Spontak also represents families and individuals in areas of estate planning and administration.  Further, he handles issues concerning the 501(c)(3) exempt status for non-profit clients.

Prior to joining Jones Gregg, Mr. Spontak founded and worked at the firm of Pettit & Spontak PLLC for approximately ten years.  There he represented utility, manufacturing, professional service, and construction companies, as well as individuals, in an array of complex litigation matters.  During that time, he tried cases in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, and the Federal District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.  Further, he litigated estate disputes through trial, in addition to handling estate planning and administration matters for families and individuals throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Spontak worked at the Pittsburgh office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP (which subsequently merged with Dewey Ballantine to become Dewey & LeBoeuf), a multinational law firm.  While at LeBoeuf, Mr. Spontak handled commercial litigation claims and cases in twenty-five states on behalf of a Fortune 500 metals manufacturer.

Mr. Spontak attended Syracuse University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in economics and management studies in 1997.  He obtained a J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2001.     

Mr. Spontak is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the Supreme Court of the United States.  He is an active member of the Allegheny County Bar Association where he has served as an attorney volunteer for the Wills for Heroes program, and as Co-chair of the VIP program where bar association members speak to seniors on estate planning and probate issues.
