Michael A. Carr
Mr. Carr heads the firm’s Estate Planning, Trusts, and Administration department, as well as practicing in the areas of business structuring, tax law, and Marcellus Shale. Mr. Carr has enabled clients to save thousands of dollars in taxes by utilizing specific tax strategies. He has also created hundreds of succession and business plans for clients, ensuring solid business operations.
Utilizing his advanced knowledge in law and taxation, he assists individuals and businesses as they plan for the long-term, creating a picture of health for his clients. Applying his passion for solving puzzles, Mr. Carr helps clients with succession planning, setting up business entities, asset protection planning, and tax planning, creating a solid picture of clients’ organizational health.
Mr. Carr frequently speaks to consumer and professional groups on the subjects of estate planning, special needs trusts, estate law, and wealth management. He has also prepared and presented seminars discussing various income taxation and estate planning issues affecting Marcellus Shale leases and royalty payments.
As an active member of the community, Mr. Carr established the Western Pennsylvania Special Needs Children’s Alliance, which has served hundreds of families. In 2011, he was the American Diabetes Association Father of the Year honoree.
For many years, Mr. Carr served as a Judge Advocate General for the United States Navy.
Mr. Carr obtained his Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University Petit College of Law in 1981. In 1985, he earned a Masters of Tax L.L.M. from Temple University School of Law.
He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, and the United States Tax Court. He is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
